β-sitosterol is an organic compound, the molecular formula is C29H50O, is a white crystalline solid, widely found in nature in a variety of vegetable oils, nuts and other plant seeds, but also exists in some plant drugs.
sterol is a kind of steroid which exists in nature, although the content is not much, it has high application value. Because it's solid and calls it sterols it's a macromolecular alcohol. It is the main component of unsaponifiable substances in oils and fats. According to the different sources, sterols can be divided into three categories, namely animal sterols, plant sterols and bacterial sterols.
Phytosterols (sitosterols) are considered to be mild free radical scavenger, which to some extent explains the positive effects of phytosterols in maintaining cell membrane stability, inhibiting inflammation, preventing atherosclerosis and anti- cancer. It has the effects of lowering cholesterol, relieving cough, expelling phlegm, inhibiting tumor and repairing tissue. It is used for type II hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis and chronic bronchitis, and also for early cervical cancer and skin ulcers. Large doses of can cause loss of appetite, diarrhea, gastrointestinal pain and other gastrointestinal reactions. Ulcers caused by osteomyelitis should not be used before the primary disease has healed. Lower leg ulcers with lower limb varicose veins must be treated at the same time.
Preparation method
Rice bran oil is used as raw material
Raw material treatment: Take methine soap residue and dry it in the oven at a constant temperature below 80℃, so that the water content is less than 2%, and the dry soap residue is small particles or powder.
Extraction: Take the dry soap residue and add it to the enamel reaction tank, add acetone (V soap residue: V acetone = 1:8), stir it, heat it with the distillation steam in the clip, extract it by reflux at 50-55℃ for 3-4h, cool it to 30℃ and discharge the material, stand at 10-15℃ for 12h, press filter to obtain the filtrate.
Concentration, crystallization and drying: Put the filtrate into the concentration tank, concentrate to 1/5 of the original volume, obtain the concentrated liquid, stand at room temperature for crystallization for 12h, filter, obtain rough products, drying in the oven at 60℃, and dry rough products.
Decolorization, crystallization, drying: Take the dry coarse product and add 25-30 times 95% ethanol, add hydrochloric acid to adjust pH3-4, heat the water bath, dissolve the coarse product, add 10-20g/L activated carbon to gently boil for 20min, filter while hot, obtain the filtrate, stand at room temperature and crystallize for 12h, until the crystallization is complete, filter, collect the crystalline product, and dry under 80℃ vacuum to obtain the sitosterol product.
