What are Sodium phytate?

Sodium phytate is an organic sodium salt, a white hygroscopic powder, easily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution has strong alkalinity. Sodium phytate contains more sodium ions and can be used as a dyeing accelerator for active dyes, and has a certain alkalinity and can be used as a fixing agent for active dyes. Phytic acid/sodium phytate is widely present in cereals, beans and oil crops, and is widely used. It can be used as a food antioxidant, antibacterial agent, color protectant, chelating agent and preservative in the food industry. Sodium phytate is prone to hydrolysis under certain conditions, and hydrolysis can generate sodium inositol pentaphosphate, sodium inositol tetraphosphate, sodium inositol triphosphate, sodium inositol diphosphate, sodium inositol phosphate and inositol. Among them, inositol triphosphate has the effect of signal transduction in animal and plant cells; inositol has the effect of anti-cancer and anti-aging. Due to its strong chelating ability, sodium phytate is easy to combine with metal ions such as calcium and magnesium to form a chelate, and the formed complex is highly stable, and has a wide range of application value in food, medicine, daily chemicals and other industries.

Application


Sodium phytate, also known as sodium inositol hexaphosphate, is a white powder at room temperature and is easily soluble in water. Its parent phytic acid (inositol hexaphosphate) is an organic phosphate compound widely found in plant seeds, grains, germs and rice bran. Phytic acid and its sodium salt have strong metal chelating ability and are a rare metal multi-dentate chelating agent. This is because the main functional group of phytic acid and its sodium salt is a six-membered ring structure with 24 oxygen atoms, 12 hydroxyl groups and 6 phosphate groups. When it meets metal, it is easy to form multiple chelate rings, and the formed complex is highly stable. Therefore, phytic acid and its sodium salt have a wide range of application value in food, medicine, daily chemical and other industries.

Preparation


The preparation method of sodium phytate includes the following steps:

Step 1, storing the eluate, temporarily storing the eluate in a high-level tank;

Step 2, adding alkali for blending, (i) single blending method, measuring the specific gravity of the eluate to 1.02 and the pH value to 8, and then putting it into the blending tank. After turning on the agitator in the blending tank, slowly add alkali solution and measure its pH value from time to time. When the pH value reaches 10, add and turn on the liquid circulation pump in the tank until the liquid is uniform, and then measure the pH value of the blended liquid. The liquid with the adjusted pH value is pumped into the precipitation tank. When the liquid in the precipitation tank reaches two-thirds of the tank body, record its specific gravity and pH value. (ii) mixed blending method, when the mother liquor separated by the recovery crystallization is yellow-brown in color, apply the mixed blending method; after quantitatively adding the eluate, slowly add alkali solution while stirring to make its pH value reach 10, and the specific operation is the same as single blending. After quantitatively pumping in the mother liquor, turn on the circulation pump until the liquid in the tank is evenly mixed. The specific gravity of the blended liquid should change accordingly with the change of room temperature. When the liquid in the sedimentation tank reaches the designated position, the specific gravity and pH value of the liquid in the tank should be measured and recorded (Note: there is a liquid level indicator mark in each tank).

Step 3: Separate the liquid by precipitation. After adding alkali to the liquid and adjusting the pH value, extract the clarified blended liquid into the reactor. The residual liquid and sediment in each tank are pumped into the designated temporary storage tank from the bottom outlet of the tank by the pump. When the sodium phytate liquid in the tank reaches three-quarters of the temporary storage tank, the plate and frame filter is turned on. After the filtrate at the plate and frame outlet is clear, the clear liquid enters the sedimentation tank, and the solids remaining in the plate and frame are sent to the slag yard.

Step 4: Vacuum concentration, turn on the vacuum pump, and when the vacuum degree in the reactor reaches -0.6MPa, open the feed valve to inhale the clear supernatant in the sedimentation tank. When the liquid in the reactor touches the end of the indicating thermometer (about 0.4m3 of liquid in the reactor), stop adding clear night. If the system vacuum is not high, check the closing status of the valves in the reactor and the system. If the piston of the hydraulic jet system is not sealed well due to long-term operation, the gasket should be replaced. If the temperature in the reactor rises too fast due to unstable steam pressure, the air inlet valve should be adjusted in time.

Step 5: Perform crystallization and centrifugal separation. The concentrated liquid (specific gravity 1.4) is pumped into the crystallization tank by natural cooling or water cooling. The volume, temperature and specific gravity of the liquid are recorded and allowed to crystallize naturally. After the crystallization is completed, the crystal liquid is placed in the separation tube, and the separated mother liquor is pumped to the mother liquor storage tank. The crystals separated from the mother liquor are mixed with water in the barrel and then centrifuged in the centrifuge.

Step 6: Dry and dry at a constant temperature to obtain the final sodium phytate. Clean the drying tool to prevent impurities from entering and contaminating the sodium phytate. Distribute the material (wet sodium phytate crystals) evenly on the tray and dry at a constant temperature. When the oven is turned on, steam should be turned on to flush the steam pipeline to ensure that the electronic valve can work normally. Before the material starts to dry, the lower limit of the starting temperature and the upper limit of the starting temperature should be appropriately adjusted according to the season. In principle, the temperature difference between the upper and lower limits should be controlled at 2~9℃, and the temperature should be gradually increased to 65℃ and maintained for continuous drying. Each work (drying) is about 24 hours. The exhaust port of the oven should be closed when the machine is stopped in the middle to prevent the material from re-humidifying due to the tide at night. If the automatic alarm alarm occurs during the operation of the oven, the air intake should be stopped first, and the reasons should be checked after ventilation: 1) Whether the electronic valve fails to work; 2) Whether the temperature control adjustment is placed in the normal position; 3) The steam intake is too large. After each batch is dried, samples should be taken for testing. The quality standards of the tested items are as shown in Table 1. Products that pass the test are packaged at 25kg per barrel or as required by the customer. The plastic bag lining the packaging should meet the quality standards for food additives. After each bag is packed, it should be tied with a plastic rope or sealed with a hot rolling sealer to prevent the product from re-humidifying and agglomerating due to moisture absorption. The batch and production date should be indicated for each batch of products. If the customer has special requirements, they should be implemented according to the customer's requirements. The particles in each bag that do not pass through the sieve should be recovered, and this part should be dissolved back, concentrated and then recrystallized.
