About The Detailed Introduction Of Hemp Seed Protein?

Hemp protein is a plant protein extracted from hemp seeds (flax seeds). Hemp seeds are the seeds of the flax plant and are rich in nutrients, including protein, fiber, essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

Hemp seed protein is a natural source of plant protein and is a great option for those following a vegetarian diet or who need to increase their protein intake. Hemp seed protein has the following characteristics:

High protein content: Contains about 25% to 30% protein, which is the highest content among plant-based proteins.
High-quality protein: Contains all the essential amino acids required by the human body, especially essential fatty acids such as linolenic acid and linoleic acid, which are very important for the growth, development and maintenance of health of the human body.
Easy to digest and absorb: Compared with other plant proteins, hemp seed protein has a higher digestion and absorption rate. It is gluten-free and suitable for those with gluten allergies or sensitivities.
Antioxidant effect: It is rich in antioxidant substances, such as linolenic acid and linoleic acid, which have anti-aging and protective cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health effects.

Hemp Seed Protein

Composition and structure of hemp seed protein

It is mainly composed of albumin and globulin. Globulin, also known as hemp seed globulin, is the main component of hemp seed protein, accounting for about 60% to 86% of hemp seed protein, followed by albumin, which accounts for about 25%. %. X-ray crystal diffraction analysis showed that hemp seed globulin has 6 identical subunits, each of which is composed of an acidic and basic subunit connected by a disulfide bond. Research has found that hemp seed globulin is mainly composed of two subunits, 11S and 7S. The 11S subunit contains acidic and basic residues. The molecular weight of the acidic residues is about 34 kDa and has high homogeneity. Basic residues mainly include 2 subunits of 20 kDa and 18 kDa. The 7S protein is mainly a basic subunit with a molecular weight of approximately 4.8 kDa. A sulfur-rich protein with a molecular weight of approximately 10 kDa was also found in hemp seeds, which mainly contains methionine and cysteine (accounting for approximately 20% of the total amino acids). Sequence analysis showed that the protein is mainly composed of subunits composed of 27 and 61 amino acid residues. The two subunits are connected by two disulfide bonds. It was also found that this methionine- and cysteine-rich 2S protein has no Trypsin inhibitory activity.

Digestive Properties of Hemp Seed Protein

Compared with other plant proteins, hemp seed protein contains very low anti-nutritional factors and is therefore easier to digest. A classic digestion study was conducted to evaluate the digestibility of whole hemp seeds, shelled hemp seeds and hemp protein powder using animal models and FAO/WHO amino acid requirements of children (2 to 5 years old) as reference . They found that the protein digestibility of shelled hemp seeds ranged from 90.8% to 97.5%, which is almost the same as the digestibility of casein (97.6%). The digestibility of hemp seed protein isolate and soy protein isolate was compared using an in vitro digestion model. The results showed that the digestibility of hemp seed protein isolate was equivalent to that of soybean protein isolate, but the digestibility when digested with pepsin + trypsin (88%~91%) was significantly higher than that of soybean protein isolate (71%).

Amino Acid Composition

It is a plant protein with extremely high nutritional value. It contains all the essential amino acids needed by the human body in a balanced proportion. The nutritional value of hemp seed protein is equivalent to that of egg white protein and soybean protein, and meets the protein nutritional needs of children (2 to 5 years old) recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization. In addition, hemp seed protein is also rich in functional amino acids arginine, methionine and cysteine. Arginine is the precursor of nitric oxide (NO), which plays an active role in blood pressure regulation because NO is a vasodilator that can lower blood pressure. Lu et al. reported that hemp seed protein contains about 12% arginine, which is significantly higher than other plant proteins (generally the arginine content is less than 7%). In addition, it is also rich in methionine and cysteine, with the content ranging from 3.5% to 5.9%. House et al. reported that lysine is the first limiting amino acid in hemp seed protein, and its variation range is 0.5%~0.62%.

What Are The Benefits?

Provides high-quality protein: Rich in high-quality protein, an essential nutrient that the body needs to build and repair tissues. Protein plays an important role in strengthening the immune system, promoting muscle growth, and maintaining healthy skin.

Promote muscle growth and recovery: Hemp seed protein is rich in amino acids, especially branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) such as leucine, isoleucine and valine. These amino acids play an important role in muscle repair and growth after exercise and can help reduce muscle pain and promote muscle recovery.

Promotes bone health: Rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, which are necessary for maintaining bone health. Calcium and phosphorus are the main building blocks of bones, and magnesium helps with calcium absorption and the maintenance of bone density.

Improves cardiovascular health: Rich in healthy fatty acids such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids are beneficial to the cardiovascular system, lowering cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of atherosclerosis, and helping to maintain normal heart function.

Promotes digestive system health: It is rich in fiber and has a positive effect on promoting digestive system health. Fiber can increase the number of probiotics in the large intestine, improve the balance of intestinal flora, promote normal intestinal movement, and prevent constipation and other digestive problems.

Protect liver function: The tartary buckwheat selenoprotein in hemp seed protein has significant antioxidant properties and can help reduce liver oxidative stress damage. It can also promote liver cell regeneration and repair and protect liver function.

Strengthen the immune system: Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, such as vitamin E and vitamin C, these ingredients help enhance immune system function and prevent infections and diseases.

Effects of globular proteins in hemp on human immunity
All enzymes, antibodies, fibrinogen (blood thickening agent) and many hormones are globular proteins.
Since all immune cells have hormone receptor sites, hemp proteins directly promote hormone production.
The hemp protein in hemp seeds is a protein composed of two types of globulin, hemp globulin (60-80%) and albumin. Insemin globulin is also rich in essential amino acids. The PDCASS of hemp protein is 0.61 (the limiting amino acid is lysine, the digestibility is 94.9%), and the biological value is 87. The total proportion of essential amino acids in hemp protein isolate is also significantly higher than that in soy protein isolate.

Completely digested
Hemp protein is one of the most digestible proteins as it is 91-98% digestible. Protein extracted from hemp removes ingredients including lactose or large amounts of oligosaccharides, which can upset the stomach, especially in people with allergies or intolerances.

fiber content
30 grams of hemp protein contains 7-8 grams of fiber, making it the only fiber-based carbohydrate protein on the market.
We need fiber in our diets because our digestive systems love it, it helps raise our blood sugar, promotes healthier gut bacteria, reduces the risk of bowel cancer and helps us feel fuller for longer.

healthy fats
30 grams of hemp contains about 3 grams of unsaturated fat, which is great for our heart health. It also has an ideal 3:1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3, whereas the Western diet provides a 15:1 ratio.
Omega 3s are anti-inflammatory, while omega 6s are inflammatory, so we need more omega 3s in our diets to regulate inflammation. A Western diet rich in omega 6 is a precursor to coronary artery disease.
Due to hemp's unique fatty acid structure, it has the ability to treat atopic dermatitis in humans.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic
Hemp protein is the only anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic protein compared to all plant and dairy proteins.
Hemp seeds contain high amounts of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. In fact, the best hemp protein products on the market include an ideal 3:1 ratio. This is the "golden" ratio for improving heart health because it can help reduce inflammation.
Hemp protein seeds contain a significant amount of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that may have anti-inflammatory effects.

gut health
Unlike whey protein, hemp protein is a purely natural, easily digestible, high-fiber protein that is a gift from nature. Hemp seeds contain high levels of protein, which can repair DNA, and are bioavailable, so you can easily digest its nutrients.

Antioxidants
Hemp seeds contain natural powerful antioxidants called lignanamides, and hemp protein is the only protein source with this property.

What Are The Application Directions?

Food Industry
Hemp seed protein can be used to make various nutritional and health foods, such as nutrition bars, protein drinks, protein shakes, etc. It can also be used as a cold food seasoning.

Hemp seed protein

It has various health functions such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, blood pressure lowering, and blood sugar lowering, so it is widely used in medical and health care products. In recent years, hemp seed protein has also been gradually used to treat some diseases, such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc.

Cosmetics industry
It has the effect of moisturizing the skin and reducing dry skin, so it is widely used in cosmetics, such as facial creams, lotions, shampoos, etc. In addition, it can also be used to make facial masks, massage oil and other products.

Agricultural industry
It can also be used in the agricultural field, such as as plant nutrients and feed additives. It can promote plant growth and improve the soil environment; it can also improve the feed value of livestock and poultry, and increase their yield and quality.

Extraction and purification of hemp seed protein

Protein can be divided into plant protein, animal protein and microbial protein according to its source, and the source of protein also determines its extraction method to a certain extent. The extraction of plant protein usually includes chemical extraction, physical extraction and enzyme-assisted extraction, while the commonly used extraction methods of hemp seed protein include chemical extraction, physical extraction and enzyme-assisted extraction. As a plant seed with extremely high oil content, the extraction of hemp seed protein usually includes steps such as pressing to remove oil, extraction, concentration and separation.
