Absorption Mechanism

Absorption MechanismCopper glycinate readily decomposes at 145°C; it is moderately soluble in water but poorly soluble in ethereal organic solvents. It features an absorption mechanism distinct from that of inorganic or other organic copper salts: the copper ion bonds with amino acid ligands via both covalent and ionic bonds, becoming protected within the core of the complex. It then enters the bloodstream and is absorbed by the body by traversing the mucosal cell membrane, the mucosal cell itself, and the basolateral membrane as an intact unit. This mode of transport offers superior bioavailability and safety, making the compound highly suitable for use as a dietary copper supplement and a mineral feed additive.

Product Benefits

1. Promotes Animal Growth

Copper is an essential trace element for animal growth and development; incorporating copper glycinate into feed improves growth performance and feed utilization efficiency.

2. Supports Gut Health

Copper glycinate helps regulate the intestinal micro-ecosystem, promoting a healthy balance of beneficial gut flora.

3. Enhances Nutrient Absorption Efficiency

Its organic chelated structure facilitates the stable transport of copper, improving the animal's utilization of the element.

4. Supports Immune Function

Appropriate supplementation with copper glycinate helps maintain normal immune function in animals.

Product Applications

Food Application

Copper Glycinate Powder offers good palatability and lacks a metallic taste; its addition to food products does not compromise product quality. It reduces antagonistic interactions between elements within the digestive tract and boasts high bioavailability.

Applications

Feed Application

Copper is an essential trace element for animal physiological processes, playing a vital role in enhancing feed conversion rates, improving reproductive performance, boosting disease resistance, and elevating the quality of livestock products. As a high-quality organic copper source, copper glycinate features a stable chemical structure, excellent palatability, and high bioavailability, while also causing less environmental pollution than inorganic copper. Consequently, due to these advantages, it is poised to play an increasingly significant role in the feed industry, eventually surpassing inorganic copper.

Feed Applications

When added to feed, copper glycinate does not degrade various vitamins or catalyze the oxidation of fats; it serves as an effective substitute for copper sulfate in supplying the essential trace element copper to animals. Lower dosages of copper glycinate can achieve growth-promoting effects comparable to high doses of copper sulfate. Furthermore, by alleviating antagonistic competition during absorption, copper glycinate significantly enhances the uptake and utilization of copper ions while also improving the absorption of other trace elements.

Research Value of Copper Glycinate in Animal Nutrition

A study combining animal trials with porcine intestinal organoid models evaluated the effects of replacing high-dose copper sulfate with copper glycinate on the growth performance, copper metabolism, and intestinal health of growing pigs.

Growing pigs were assigned to groups receiving either high-dose copper sulfate, low-dose copper sulfate, or copper glycinate. After a 30-day feeding period, the results showed:

1. Copper glycinate at 20 mg/kg achieved growth-promoting effects comparable to high-dose copper sulfate (150 mg/kg) while improving feed utilization efficiency.

2. Fecal copper excretion was reduced by approximately 76%, thereby lowering the environmental copper load.

3. Compared to high-dose copper sulfate, copper glycinate had a milder impact on the intestinal microbiota, helping to maintain a balance of beneficial bacteria.

4. Experiments demonstrated that copper glycinate promotes intestinal cell turnover and maintains intestinal function, whereas high-dose copper sulfate may increase cellular stress responses.

Research
Effects of different copper sources on the morphology and viability of porcine jejunal organoids
Research
Fecal copper content of growing pigs in treatment groups receiving different copper sources at the start (d 0) and end (d 30) of the experiment.
Research
Effects of different copper sources on the gene expression of intestinal cell markers in porcine jejunal organoids
Research
Effects of different copper sources on the expression of genes related to trace element absorption and transport in porcine jejunal organoids

The study indicates that copper glycinate offers superior copper utilization efficiency and serves as an optimized alternative to high-dose inorganic copper sources, supporting precision nutrition and environmentally friendly livestock farming.
