What is Betaine Anhydrous Powder?
Betaine Anhydrous Powder is an efficient and high-quality growth-promoting nutritional additive. Medical grade betaine can be used in medicine, cosmetics, food, juice industry, and dental materials. In addition, betaine can also be used in the fermentation industry.
Betaine, also known as trimethylamine betaine, betaine, and trimethylammonium betaine, is a quaternary ammonium derivative of glycine. It is a type of nitrogen methyl compound or trimethyl salt formed when the hydrogen on the amino group of the amino acid is replaced by a methyl group. Common ones include glycyl betaine, β-alanyl betaine, and prolyl betaine. Prismatic crystals or leaf-shaped crystals are obtained from ethanol, which have a sweet taste and are easy to deliquesce. The melting point is 293℃, and it decomposes at 300℃. It is soluble in water, methanol and ethanol, and is difficult to dissolve in ether. It can isomerize to dimethylaminoacetic acid methyl ester at the melting point. The monohydrate crystal is obtained from the aqueous solution of the free acid HO-N(CH3)3-CH2COOH. It loses water at 100℃ to form betaine, which is stable in acid. It reacts with concentrated potassium hydroxide aqueous solution to produce trimethylamine. It reacts with sugar to produce Maillard reaction (browning reaction). It exists in plants such as beetroot and cottonseed, and also in animal substances such as spiny shark meat and crab essence juice. It can be recovered from beet sugar mother liquor. It can also be produced by methylation of aminoacetic acid or by the reaction of chloroacetic acid with trimethylamine. It is used together with N-amidino glycine in clinical practice to treat myasthenia gravis, and is also used as a reagent for identifying gold in analytical chemistry. This product is a betaine-type amphoteric surfactant, used as a leveling agent for reducing dyes. In drought or salt adversity, betaine accumulates in many plants and becomes the main organic solute for osmotic regulation, which has a protective effect on proteins and cell membranes.
application
Betaine is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid. Anhydrous betaine is a new type of fine chemical that can be widely used in food, medicine, daily chemicals, printing and dyeing, chemical industry and other fields. Anhydrous betaine is an efficient and high-quality nutritional additive. Pharmaceutical grade betaine can be used in medicine, cosmetics, food, juice industry, and dental materials. In addition, betaine can also be used in the fermentation industry. Anhydrous betaine has the effects of improving eyesight, resisting fatty liver, protecting kidneys, treating cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, etc., and is used in health foods. Anhydrous betaine is widely used in food and beverages in the food industry because of its moderate taste and colorlessness. Anhydrous betaine is used in weight loss and beauty foods. Betaine is used as an additive for daily chemical products
Feed additives
Betaine is a natural compound and a quaternary ammonium alkaloid. This substance is named because it was originally extracted from beets. It has been used as a feed additive for more than 50 years. It has attracted much attention and has been widely used because of its important role in the protein and fat metabolism of animals. Adding it to chicken feed can improve the carcass quality and breast muscle mass of broilers. Improve the palatability and utilization of bait. Increase feed intake and daily weight gain, and it is the main attractant component of aquatic bait. Increase the feed intake rate of piglets and promote their growth. Another important function of it is that the osmotic pressure regulator improves gastrointestinal pressure under various stress conditions such as cold, heat, disease, weaning and other changes in living environment to increase the survival rate of seedlings, especially shrimp and fish fry. Anhydrous betaine has a protective effect on the stability of VA and VB, which improves the effect of use. It does not have the irritation of betaine hydrochloride.
High-efficiency active methyl donor
Betaine is widely present in animals and plants. The highest content in plants is in beets. Betaine is an efficient and active methyl donor in animals. It plays an important role in nutritional regulation in methyl metabolism, can replace part of methionine and choline, and has the effects of promoting fat metabolism, improving the palatability of feed, alleviating heat stress, and regulating the body's osmotic pressure. It can also maintain the stability of vitamin premixes and improve breeding efficiency. Betaine provides methyl groups to cysteine in the animal body to generate methionine, which is activated to become S-adenosylmethionine, and then transfers the methyl group to DNA, RNA, protein, creatine, lipids and other important methyl-containing components. Methyl groups are very unstable and cannot be synthesized by animals themselves, so they can only rely on food supply. The efficiency of betaine in providing methyl groups is 1.2 times that of choline chloride and 3.8 times that of methionine. Choline itself cannot serve as a methyl donor. It must first be transported to the mitochondria, oxidized to generate betaine, and finally released into the cell fluid before it can serve as a methyl donor. Studies have shown that adding 1.25 kg of this product to each ton of pig feed has no effect on growth and development and feed efficiency, but reduces back fat by 15%, and can increase the cross-sectional area of tenderloin and improve carcass meat quality; adding betaine to chicken feed can reduce the amount of methionine added to the feed. In the early stage of broiler feeding, 750 grams of betaine can replace 1.5 kg of methionine per ton of feed, and 450 grams of betaine can replace 1 kg of methionine in the later stage. Betaine can also prevent and treat fatty liver in pigs, chickens and fish.
Production method
(1) Extraction method. The mother liquor of beet sugar production contains 12%-15% betaine, which can be directly recovered. Heat 300 parts of the mother liquor to 50℃, add 80 parts of calcium chloride, stir for a certain period of time and filter while hot. The filtrate is acidified with hydrochloric acid and cooled to 20-30℃ for crystallization. After separation and drying, about 30 parts of betaine are obtained.
(2) Synthesis method. It is obtained by quaternization of chloroacetic acid and trimethylamine. 195 parts of 48.6% chloroacetic acid aqueous solution are neutralized with 16% sodium hydroxide solution to form sodium chloroacetate solution, and then mixed with 360 parts of 16.4% trimethylamine solution, ventilated at 50℃ for 1h, and ventilated at 80℃ for another 1h. After the reactants are diluted, they are adsorbed by ion resin (Dowex-50-8) and eluted with ammonia water to obtain betaine solution. Then, the finished product is obtained by vacuum concentration and crystallization.
