Product Description

Resorcinol, also known as 1,3-benzenediol, appears as white needle-like crystals with a melting point of 109-111℃, a boiling point of 281℃, and a density of 1.27. It is readily soluble in water and ethanol, and slightly soluble in chloroform. It gradually turns red upon exposure to air and turns deep purple upon contact with ferric chloride solution.

This compound is mainly used in the preparation of rubber adhesives, wood adhesives, ultraviolet absorbers, and pharmaceutical intermediates. It is also used as a disinfectant and preservative in the treatment of skin diseases. It is primarily prepared using the benzene sulfonation alkali fusion method and the m-diisopropylbenzene oxidation method.
