What is Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide?

Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide is a type of active polysaccharide extracted from natural Tremella fuciformis (white fungus). It is composed of various sugar units (such as mannose, xylose, and glucose). It is easily soluble in water, has mild and stable properties, and is widely used in the food, skincare, and health industries.

Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide

Core Efficacy and Characteristics:

Moisturizing and Antioxidant: It has excellent water-holding capacity, improving skin hydration and helping to resist oxidation, making it suitable for use in high-end skincare products.

Supporting Immune Function: Studies show that Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide helps enhance the body's immunity and maintain a healthy state.

Soothing and Repairing: It can help relieve skin discomfort, reduce the effects of external stimuli, and support the health of skin and joints.

Wide Applications: It can be used as a natural additive in skincare products, health foods, beverages, and baked goods to enhance the nutritional value and stability of the products.

Production Process

We use a gentle water extraction process combined with technological optimization to preserve the complete structure and bioactivity of the polysaccharides as much as possible, ensuring the product is pure, highly effective, and of stable quality.

With its natural origin, multiple benefits, and high safety, Tremella polysaccharide is becoming an important ingredient in an increasing number of health and beauty products, meeting the market's demand for natural and functional raw materials.

Results and Analysis

1. Total Sugar, Acidic Polysaccharide Content, and Weight-Average Molecular Weight of Tremella Polysaccharide

The total sugar content of Tremella polysaccharide was (98.6±1.2)%, and the acidic sugar content was (13.2±0.6)%. As shown in Figure 1, at a retention time of 6.7 min, a single, symmetrical peak was observed. The dispersion coefficient was determined to be 1.03, indicating that the molecular weight distribution was uniform and homogeneous. The weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of Tremella polysaccharide was 853400 g·mol−1.

2. Monosaccharide Composition and Viscosity of Tremella Polysaccharide

Tremella polysaccharide is mainly composed of mannose (Man), containing small amounts of fucose (Fuc), glucose (Glc), xylose (Xyl), and glucuronic acid (GlcA), with a molar ratio of 62.6∶12.6∶2.6∶5.8∶16.4. The reduced Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide mainly consists of mannose (Man), fucose (Fuc), xylose (Xyl), and glucose (Glc), with a molar ratio of 64.7:10.6:4.1:20.6. After reduction, glucuronic acid in the Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide is reduced to glucose, and the viscosity of the reduced polysaccharide is 205.6 mPa·s, significantly lower than the viscosity of the Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide before reduction (857.2 mPa·s).

3. Linkage of Tremella fuciformis Polysaccharide

Table 1 shows that the Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide is composed of →3)-Man-(1→, →2,3)-Man-(1→, →2)-Xyl-(1→, →4)-Fuc-(1→, →3,4)-Fuc-(1→, Xyl-(1→, GlcA-(1→, and Fuc-(1→) sugar residues, with a molar percentage of [missing information]. 26.1∶47.4∶5.2∶0.8∶1.4∶2.6∶12.6∶3.9. The proportion of Glc-(1→) in the reduced Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide was significantly increased compared to the unreduced form, proving that the glucuronic acid in the Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide is terminally linked.

4. Anti-inflammatory effect of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide

Effect of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide on the viability of RAW264.7 cells

As shown in Figure 2, when the concentration of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide was 1000 and 2500 μg·mL−1, the cell viability of RAW264.7 cells was not significantly different from that of the blank control group, indicating that this concentration of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide was non-toxic to cells. Sex.

Anti-Inflammatory Effect

Effect of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide on NO release from RAW264.7 cells

Excessive NO release is a significant cause of the development of various chronic inflammatory diseases; therefore, changes in NO content are an important indicator for assessing the degree of inflammation and anti-inflammatory effects. As shown in Figure 3, LPS stimulation increased intracellular NO content. Compared with the model group, NO release from RAW264.7 cells was inhibited in all groups treated with different concentrations of Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide, with an IC50 of (749.7±39.3) μg·mL−1, indicating that Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide has good anti-inflammatory potential.

Anti-Inflammatory Effect

Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide on RAW 264.7 Effect of Relative Expression Level of iNOS Protein in Macrophages

As shown in Figure 4, compared with the control group, the relative expression level of iNOS protein in the model group was significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the relative expression level of iNOS protein in the 1000 μg·mL−1 Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide group was significantly decreased (P<0.05), indicating that Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide can regulate NO levels and exert anti-inflammatory effects by regulating iNOS expression.

Health Benefits of Tremella Polysaccharide

Recent studies have fully confirmed that Tremella polysaccharide, a natural active substance, is the main effective component of Tremella fuciformis. Its health benefits are as follows:

(1) Significantly enhances the body's immune function, promotes glycogen synthesis in liver cells, and exhibits anti-tumor, anti-mutation, anti-radiation, and white blood cell-raising effects;

(2) Antioxidant effect, which can eliminate free radical damage to the body, prevent aging, and prolong life;

(3) Promotes protein and nucleic acid synthesis and has a promoting effect on bone marrow hematopoiesis;

(4) Significantly reduces serum free cholesterol, cholesterol esters, and... The β-lipoprotein content has a lipid-lowering effect and can also reduce blood glucose concentration, thus having a preventive and therapeutic effect on diabetic mice induced by alloxan.

(5) It significantly prolongs the thrombus formation time, reduces platelet adhesion rate and blood viscosity, and has a preventive and therapeutic effect on cardiovascular diseases.

(6) It can significantly reduce the degree of formaldehyde-induced paw swelling in rats, indicating that it has a significant resistance effect on inflammatory exudation and edema; it can significantly inhibit the formation of stress-induced ulcers in rats, promote ulcer healing, and has anti-inflammatory and swelling-reducing effects, promoting ulcer healing.

In addition to the above functions, the Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, has also drawn the following conclusions from experimental studies on the inhibition of bovine immunodeficiency virus by Tremella polysaccharide and its derivatives: Tremella polysaccharide and Tremella polysaccharide sulfate have a certain inhibitory effect on syncytial virus induced by BIV, are excellent immunomodulators, and have extremely low toxicity, which has a certain effect on the combined drug treatment of AIDS patients and the prevention of AIDS in high-risk groups.
