It is widely used in hair conditioners, cosmetics, and industrial cleaning agents as an emulsifier, dispersant, and conditioning agent. At room temperature, it is typically a white to pale yellow flaky solid, sparingly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents, and significantly improves hair's combability and shine.

Main Functions and Applications

• Hair Conditioning: As a core ingredient in shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks, it significantly improves the combability of hair, making it smooth and reducing frizz.
• Emulsification and Thickening: Used as an emulsifier or thickener in formulations, it helps stabilize system viscosity, achieves a rich cream texture, and maintains good compatibility with anionic surfactants.
• Other Applications: In addition to hair care, it is used in skin care products to provide a soft feel, or as an effective ingredient in fabric softeners to reduce the coefficient of friction of fibers.

Mechanism of Action and Product Characteristics

• Adsorption Film Formation: This substance is weakly alkaline. Under acidic conditions, it forms a soluble quaternary ammonium salt, which can adsorb onto the negatively charged hair surface to form a protective film, thereby exerting a conditioning effect.
