Hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium hyaluronic acid (Hydrogenpropyltrimethylammonium chloride) is a derivative of hyaluronic acid modified with cationic groups. It is a white or off-white powder at room temperature and is readily soluble in water. It retains the excellent moisturizing abilities of ordinary hyaluronic acid, and due to its positive charge, it can adhere firmly to the negatively charged surface of skin and hair through electrostatic adsorption, making it difficult to wash off with water, resulting in longer-lasting hydration. It can also repair damaged hair, enhance skin elasticity, and reduce formula irritation.
