What is dihydroxyacetone?

Dihydroxyacetone powder is an organic compound that is a polyhydroxy ketose, the simplest ketose. It is biodegradable, edible and non-toxic to human body and the environment. What are the effects?

1. As a self-tanning agent, it reacts with amino acids on the epidermal layer of the skin. Its effects only last a few days as the color it provides fades as the stained cells naturally shed. It is reported to be best for slightly acidic skin.

2. The ketone functional group in dihydroxyacetone can react with the amino acids and amino groups of skin keratin to form a brown polymer, which makes people's skin produce an artificial brown color, so it can also be used as a simulator for sun-tanned skin tone. It looks beautiful with brown or tan skin that looks like the result of prolonged exposure to the sun.

3.
