The Application Value of Carvacrol in Animal Husbandry

 

I. Antibacterial Mechanism

The antibacterial effect of carvacrol is not a single pathway, but rather a synergistic effect through multiple targets. Studies have shown that phenolic substances such as carvacrol mainly act on the cell membrane and cell wall structure of bacteria, disrupting cell membrane integrity, interfering with pH homeostasis, and ultimately leading to bacterial death. This differs from traditional antibiotics and is less prone to cross-resistance.

II. Improving the Quality of Livestock Products

Compared to vitamin E, carvacrol has stronger antioxidant enzyme activity, effectively alleviating oxidative stress caused by transportation, environmental changes, and other factors, thereby improving meat quality. In livestock and poultry production, carvacrol, through its antioxidant activity, can increase carcass weight, breast muscle weight, meat tenderness and juiciness, reduce lipid oxidation, and simultaneously reduce abdominal fat deposition.

III. Research on Meat Rabbit Farming

Research Design: 160 healthy 35-day-old Ira meat rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups. The basal diets of these groups were supplemented with 0 (control group), 100, 200, and 300 g/ton carvacrol, respectively. The experiment lasted 28 days.

Conclusion: Dietary supplementation with carvacrol can improve the growth performance and nutrient digestibility of meat rabbits, improve intestinal morphology and microbiota structure, and positively regulate metabolic pathways.
