What is Helicid?
Helicid is an active ingredient isolated from the fruit of the Proteaceae plant, Proteaceae. Its chemical structure is similar to that of gastrodin (p-hydroxymethylphenyl-O-β-D-pyranoglucoside). Pharmacological and clinical studies have shown that Helicid has similar effects on the central nervous system as gastrodin, but its sedative, hypnotic and analgesic effects are stronger than those of gastrodin. It has a definite therapeutic effect on neurosis and has no side effects such as rebound insomnia and drug dependence, and has good clinical use value.
Mechanism of action: Restores the balance between excitation and inhibition in the cerebral cortex and exerts a central inhibitory effect.
Content determination
HPLC method
(1) Chromatographic conditions Chromatographic column: YWCT-C18 (25cm×2.6mm, 10μm) packed by high pressure pulp method. Mobile phase: methanol-water (20:80); flow rate: 0.7ml/min; column temperature: room temperature; UV detection wavelength: 270nm; paper speed: 2.5mm/min.
(2) Preparation of reference solution Accurately weigh the tofu fruit glycoside reference substance and prepare a 1mg/ml solution with 20% methanol. Accurately weigh bergenin and dissolve it with 20% methanol. Use ultrasonic dissolution to prepare an internal standard solution containing about 2mg/ml bergenin.
(3) Preparation of sample solution Accurately weigh about 1g of dried tofu fruit raw drug powder, place it in a 25ml volumetric flask, add 20ml of methanol and soak for 0.5h, extract with ultrasonic oscillation for 80min, cool, dilute to 25ml with methanol, filter, and the filtrate is the sample solution.
(4) Determination: Take the tofu glycoside reference solution in a 5 ml volumetric flask, add 1.5 ml of bergenin internal standard solution, dilute to scale with 20% methanol, and mix well; take 5 ml of sample solution, evaporate to dryness, add 1.5 ml of internal standard solution, dilute to scale with 20% methanol, and mix well. Take 5 μl of reference solution and sample solution respectively, inject, determine according to chromatographic conditions, and calculate the content by peak area ratio.
(5) Determination results: The above internal standard method was used to determine the tofu glycoside content in samples Ⅰ and Ⅱ, and the results were 0.963% and 0.928% respectively.

Helicid is a monomer extracted from the fruit of the wild plant Proteaceae radish tree. It is used for neurasthenia, neurasthenia syndrome and vascular neurosis headache.
