Apple extract is a product extracted from apples. It appears as a light yellow to yellowish-brown powder. Its core component is polyphenols, and it also contains triterpenes, pectin, dietary fiber, and other bioactive substances. In practical testing, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is commonly used for analysis. Specifications mainly cover polyphenol content from 50% to 98%, as well as different purities of phlorizin and phlorizin.
In terms of efficacy, apple extract possesses pharmacological effects such as anti-oxidation and regulation of physiological functions. For example, it can help lower blood pressure, regulate cholesterol, and promote intestinal peristalsis. - Diverse CAS Numbers: Due to different proportions of extract components, there are multiple CAS numbers, commonly 85251-63-4 and 84781-63-8. Some components, such as pectin, have a separate CAS number, 9006-69-5.
- Stable Physicochemical Properties: The pure product is a light yellowish-brown powder with a slight apple flavor. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol and retains its activity even when heated to 120℃ within a pH range of 2 to 10.
Extraction and purification processes: Common methods include:
- Water extraction: Suitable for water-soluble components, but produces many impurities;
- Alcohol extraction: Highly efficient for extracting fat-soluble components such as polyphenols and flavonoids;
- Ultrasound-assisted extraction: Improves efficiency and reduces solvent usage;
